Senator Suleiman Adokwe from Nassarawa State has described the ongoing blockade of the National Assembly by men of the Department of State Security (DSS) as a "shame, big shame."
Adokwe, who was reacting to the situation immediately he arrived at the entry gate and was required to present his ID, also said he was disappointed with the outcome.
"I am disappointed; for the very first time, Senators and Honorable Members were meant to trek from the first gate down here. It is sad.
"I am supposed to have meeting by 12:00 pm. So, I didn’t prepare for this.
For Senator Chukwuka Utazi (PDP, Enugu): "We are here to do our job. We are here to discuss the so much talked about INEC budget and they are blocking the complex. For what?"
Asked if the blockade has anything to do with attempts to impeach Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Utazi replied.
"You know it already. But whether they will succeed on that, we leave that to God."
Senator Ben Bruce (PDP, Bayelsa) described the situation as "tyrannical."
