Patrick Kalu, an indigene of Abia State who was arrested and paraded by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly sodomising a 15-year-old boy said the death of his wife drove him into the act.
Fielding questions from journalists at the police command headquarters over the weekend, 65-year-old Kalu said he was traumatized by the death of his wife.
“I know it is a shameful thing. I’m really ashamed of myself. Please help me beg the police to release me and I will never do it again,” he pleaded.
According to the command’s public relations officer, SP Abigail Onaeze, police detectives attached to the command arrested Kalu of Railway Quarters at about 0700 hours on November 8 for having anal knowledge of 15-year-old Victor Inne.
“During police investigation, the suspect confessed to have lured the victim to follow him to Minna in order to secure a job for him but ended up abusing him,” she explained.
The suspect claimed he could not raise money to marry another wife or to approach a prostitute to satisfy his sexual urge.
He said he brought the boy to Minna to get him a job, adding that he was able to secure a job of a cleaner for the boy at a hotel.
