mPedigree, a global company in the use of mobile and web technologies in securing products against faking, counterfeiting and diversion in partnership with the National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC) has introduced a new technology to fight the circulation of fake seeds in the country’s agricultural sector.
The new tech, which is called the “Seedcodex Observatory,” was designed under mPedigree Network to enhance the efficiency of quality assurance mechanism with the deployment of a tamper-evident traceability system.
The initiative was conceived earlier this year with the support of its partners, Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), USAID, under the umbrella of Partnership for Inclusive Agricultural Transformation in Africa (PIATA).
The Seedcodex solution is an integrated technological platform, which uses unique digital codes to authenticate and secure genuine seeds.
The Head Corporate Affairs mPedigree Network, Chukwudi Madu, said the use of the digital codes would strengthen the Nigerian seed system.
