Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), has pleaded with governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe for special education arrangement for children of herders in the state.
The National Secretary of the association, Baba Othman Ngelzarma, made this appeal when he paid a courtesy visit to the governor at the government house in Damaturu.
He said that the arrangement would help the children who move from place to place to have access to quality education.
“Being repositioning education is one of the signature policies of your administration, we appeal with the Your Excellency to ensure that there is a special arrangement for children of herders. Such a special arrangement will ensure that those children have access to quality education too,” he said.
Ngelzarma, who described the Governor as a humble and approachable gentleman, said: “People’s expectations on you are very high. Because of your humility and approachability everyone thinks there is something for him. We pray for you to succeed.”
Earlier, the governor commended the Miyetti Allah for the general peaceful relations that exist between cattle breeders and farmers in the state, which ensured that there were no crises between the two sides.
He noted that Miyetti Allah, as an association, has been very active in ensuring that its members engage in their pastoral activities in a peaceful and productive manner, thereby contributing to the economic development of the state.
Governor Buni also thanked the association for its support during the electioneering, which he said was helpful to the votes that returned him as governor.
“The election is an opportunity to work with each other and serve together. My election is also a test from God, and I want to pass that test. I will serve every part of the state fairly and I will be fair to all”, the governor said.
