Missing cop: Family petitions IGP

Constable Hamza Abdullahi attached to the Tafawa Balewa Police Division was reported missing in the last four weeks.

Police authorities alleged that he was arrested in his base by men of the Special Task Force in Jos, Plateau state.

Since then, nobody has seen him and his vehicle was sighted near soldiers check point before it was moved to a nearby stream in the area.

The spokesman of the family, Malam Isiaku Ahmed who is also elder brother to the missing policeman told newsmen in Bauchi yesterday that the family has been thrown into sorrow since the incident.

Ahmed added that since his brother was declared missing there has neither been response nor an explanation from authorities.

He said, “We found it worrisome when somebody serving as a security personnel, serving the police force for four years is declared missing without any proper explanation.

“When we heard the news, we travelled to Bauchi Police Command where he was serving. We wrote statement. The Commissioner of Police asked us to go back home and be patient—that they would do everything within their powers to see that his whereabouts are known. Since then, no news of him.
