The chairman of Katsina United football club, Prince Abdussamad Badamasi has said the unflinching support coming to the club from the governor of the state, Hon. Aminu Masari is making the club to be the best in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Speaking to Daily Trust on Sunday, the youngest club chairman in the NPFL said the governor who is using the club to empower the youth of Katsina State and others across the country has remained unwavering in his support for the club.
He explained that despite several contending issues amidst lean resources in the state, the governor has been consistent in making sure that the club’s monthly allocation is released promptly so that players and officials salaries and bonuses are paid as and when due.
Badamasi, therefore, said with such massive support, he is highly motivated to make Katsina United to become the best club in the NPFL and one of the best in Africa.
He said “Our governor, His Excellency, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari is doing his best for Katsina United. He has made the club a priority project because he wants to empower Katsina youths and Nigerian youths in general.
“Although Katsina is not an oil state like Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers, and the rest, he is judiciously using available resources to support us. There is nothing we asked from his Excellency that we have not received.
“It is for this reason that we are among, if not the only club in the NPFL that is up to date in payment of salaries and bonuses.
“On the part of the management committee, we are also doing our best to justify the confidence reposed in us by his excellence. Katsina United are making steady progress. We are presently among the top 10 clubs in the NPFL.
“Before the historic away victory at Sunshine Stars, we had recorded away draws against Akwa United, Wikki Tourists and Heartland. So we are hoping that when the league resumes, we would build on these impressive results.”
Badamasi, therefore, reiterated that with the maximum support the club is enjoying from the governor, the commissioner of sports and sports loving people of the state, Katsina United will sooner than later be the team to beat in the NPFL.
“We were told she showed marked improvements and was gradually being eased off life support before her condition took a turn for the worst overnight before giving up the ghost. This is very sad and painful.”
On his part, the NBBF President, Engr Musa Kida who was distraught by the news lamented the loss of the promising and talented basketballer at such an unripe age.
