There was confusion on Tuesday evening at Isale-Osun in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, as a man stormed a beer parlour and fatally shot another man.
Eyewitnesses said the deceased, identified as Monsuru Liasu, and some other people were at the beer joint, known as Face2, when the gunman arrived and began shooting his victim.
“It was around 8.40pm and people were drinking at the beer joint. A man just came straight to Monsuru and shot him. All other people at the joint ran away. Monsuru fell down and attempted to run but the man shot him again. He shot Monsuru severally and ensure that Monsuru died before he left,” an eyewitness stated.
The reason for the killing could not be confirmed at the time of filing this report, but an account said there was an issue over a phone between Monsuru and someone and people were wondering whether the killing was as a result of the phone issue.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State police command, Folashade Odoro, said the matter was being investigated.
Odoro added that the corpse of the deceased was evacuated from the scene and deposited at a morgue for autopsy.
