Thousands of Muslim ummah attended the funeral prayer for Kano Pillars FC Team Manager, Kabiru Baleria who died yesterday at Doctor’s clinic in Kano municipality.
According to the Media Officer of the NPFL side, Malam Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, the
prayer was led by Chief Imam of Murtala mosque in Kano metropolitan, shiek Kabiru Badamasi Dan’taura at Durumin Zungura quarters in side pyramid city at the family house of late Baleria.
Prominent among the thousands who attended the funeral prayer were former Kano state Head of Service, Alhaji Auwalu Na’iya, a former NFA chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, chairman Kano Pillars FC, Alhaji Surajo Shaaibu Jambul, former chairmen of Kano Pillars, players and officials of Pillars FC as well as other football stakeholders from other parts of the country.
Daily Trust gathered that shortly after the prayers, the chairman Kano Pillars lead the management, players and technical crew of the team to a condolence visit on the family of late Baleria.
The chairman also declared three days mourning and described late Baleria as an honest, humble and dedicated person who sacrificed his life in promoting peace and unity in the overall interest of football development in Kano and Nigeria as a whole.
As a mark of respect, the chairman of the club also called off Pillars training for the day as he directed club activities and training to resume on Friday.
It will be recalled that during his life time, Late Kabiru Baleria was a former international who played Kano Pillars FC, Jigawa Golden Stars and Elkanemi Warriors FC.
He was also a former Assistant coach of the National U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets and the Flying Eagles. Baleria is survived by a wife, six children and many relatives.
