Maku advises electorate against violence

Mr Labaran Maku, the former Minister of Information, yesterday, urged Nigerians to shun violence during and after the 2019 general elections in the interest of peace.

Maku, a gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nasarawa State, made this call  while addressing different groups and supporters, who paid him a visit in his hometown, Wakama, Akun Development Area of the state.

Maku, who is also the National Secretary of APGA, urged Christians and other Nigerians to use the yuletide to pray for the peace and unity of Nigeria.

According to him, his governorship position is not worth the blood of anybody, hence the need for his supporters and Nigerians to eschew violence during and after the polls.

“I want to congratulate Christians and Nigerians on Christmas and wish them prosperous New Year.

“Christmas season commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, who is the symbol of Christianity and let us all emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ.

“By preaching and embracing peace, unity, forgiveness and to reconcile with ourselves and God if anyone has done anything wrong,” he said.

Maku promised to tackle the security challenges facing the state if elected governor in 2019.

The former minister also said that he would give a priority attention to workers’ welfare, education, health and infrastructure development among other things, if elected governor.
