2018 NPFL champions, Lobi Stars of Makurdi were in imperious form yesterday as they trounced visiting Heartland FC of Owerri 3-0 in their midweek match played at the Aper Aku stadium in Makurdi.

Abdulwasiu Mahmud opened scoring for Lobi Stars in the 9th minute before Sikiru Alimi doubled the lead in the 16th minute.

The whitewash of Heartland was completed by John Lazarus in 29th minute to take Lobi Stars to the second spot behind Plateau united.

Interestingly, Plateau United, MFM and Warri Wolves also avoided defeats to remain unbeaten after four matches.

However, it was another sad day for former champions, Kano Pillars as they were stunned1-0 by less fancied Jigawa Golden Stars at their adopted home ground, the Sani Abacha stadium in Kano.

Yusuf Muhammed scored the only goal of the match in the 7th minute to end Jigawa’s miserable run of three matches without a point.

The loss to Jigawa also means Pillars are the only team yet to score a goal in the ongoing NPFL season.

Elsewhere, Sunshine Stars ended Enyimba’s unbeaten run with a 1-0 victory in Akure. Anthony Omaka powered a low drive into the bottom right, off the woodwork in the 10th minute for the only goal of the game.

Other matches saw Akwa United forced to 0-0 draw by Katsina United in Uyo while Enugu Rangers tasted their second league defeat losing 1-2 to Rivers United in Port-Harcourt.

At the Lafia township stadium, the ‘north central’ derby between Nasarawa United and table toppers, Plateau United ended in 1-1 draw.

Anas Yusuf put Nasarawa United in front in the 43rd minute but seven minutes into the second half, CHAN Eagles striker Ibrahim Mustapha equalised for the visitors.

In Lagos, Warri Wolves continued with their unbeaten run as they forced MFM to 1-1 draw at the Agege township stadium.

Wolves held on to Moses Omoduemuke’s 57th minute till the 90th minute when Kabir Adeniji equalised to save MFM from their first home defeat of the season.

Wikki Tourists also bounced back from their 1-2 loss to Plateau United to wallop visiting Delta Force 3-1 at the Pantami stadium in Gombe.

Meanwhile, week 4 matches will be concluded today as Adamawa United host Abia Warriors at the Pantami stadium in Gombe while FC IfeanyUbah will be the guests of Akwa Starlets in Uyo.

Apart from Plateau United, MFM, Warri Wolves, FC IfeanyiUbah, Akwa Starlets and Abia Warriors are the other teams that are yet to taste defeat in the current NPFL season.
