Former champions, Lobi Stars left no stone unturned in the quest to regain the league title as they defeated visiting Delta Force 4-0 at the Aper Aku Stadium during the Match Day 2 of the Nigeria Professional Football League yesterday.

Samuel Tiza fired the first salvo in the 30th minute to open the flood gates of goals with a header from Chinedu Udeagha to raise the voice of the ground in Benue.

In the 66th minute, Sikiru Alimi doubled the lead to make it 2-0 as the Benue side sought their first league win after losing to Plateau United 3-1 on Match Day 1.

Substitute Abdulkareem Mumini scored a screamer in the 74th minute to thwart any form of comeback from the visitors just as Douglas Achiv glided past four Delta Force players to end the rout in the 81st minute.

In the same vein, Enugu Rangers who were tasting action for the first time in the league after participating at CAF Confederation Cup group stage were held to a 1-1 draw by home side, Adamawa united at the Pantanmi Stadium, Gombe.

Dauda Madaki opened scoring for Rangers in the 57th minute who fired into the roof of the net from close range following an assist by Nnamdi Egbujuo.

Efforts to score the second goal with Adamawa pushing hard for an equalizer which they got through a superb finish from substitute Sadiq Lawan in the 74th minute.

Meanwhile from other fixtures saw visiting Plateau United defeating Jigawa Golden Stars by a lone goal to maintain the top spot of the league while Rivers Utd was held to a 1-1 draw by Heartland FC.

Ondo state clubside, Sunshine Stars failed to fly over visiting Warri Wolves as both sides shared the spoils of war in a fascinating 1-1 game at the Akure Township Stadium.

At the Agege stadium, MFM was also held to a 1-1 draw by Ifeanyi Ubah just as Wikki Tourists went to Nasarawa to defeat home side by a lone gaol at the Lafia Township Stadium.

Former champions, Enyimba who were tasting their first league game failed to secure maximum points as Katsina Utd held them to a 1-1 draw at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
