Lobi Stars fly over MFM in rescheduled NPFL match

Reigning Nigeria league champions, Lobi Stars yesterday defeated MFM FC 2-1 in a rescheduled Match Day 3 of the abridged Nigeria Professional Football League played at the Aper Aku stadium in Makurdi.

The home side took the lead through Dare Ojo’s strike in the 16th minute.

Twelve minutes later, the Olukoya Boys restored parity when Chijioke Akuneto expertly finished Ohanu’s pass to the astonishment of the home fans.

On resumption, the home side turned up the upped the game, creating chances upon chances without converting any of them with MFM goal tender, Olatunji Odekunle at his best.

However, in the 70th minute, Odekunle was unable to stop the home side from breaching his goal as Lobi took the lead through Monsuru Bashiru restored parity to help his side secure all three points.

With this victory, the Makurdi based side moved up the Group A table on 11 points from six games played in the league.

The Makurdi-based Lobi Stars still have two more outstanding league games following their involvement in continental competition.
