Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Tunde Lemo, OFR and the Ogun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, are among the leading economic technocrats set to brainstorm next month on the way out of Nigeria’s lingering economic recession.
Also listed in the team of experts drawn from strategic sectors of the economy are Professor Dayo Amokaye (University of Lagos), Dr. J.S. Oke (former Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ede), and Dr. O.A. Jiboku, the dean of the School of Management Studies, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
The programme, a three-day conference on leadership and ethical behaviours as catalysts for moving the country out of recession, is being put together by the School of Management Studies, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State.
The chairman of the planning committee, Mr. Mukaila Akinde (FCA), in a statement, said the conference would commence on November 28 at the polytechnic’s International Conference Centre.
According to Akinde, with the nation’s huge material resources and potentials, leadership remains the critical factor that needed to be tackled at various levels to fast-track the gradual crawl of the economy out of recession.
He stated that ethical issues in the current fight against corruption and inflation need to be critically considered and that the revival through agricultural development, oil price volatility, political restructuring and hyper-inflation are all leadership issues, stressing that the conference would look at the nation’s current challenges through a holistic discourse on leadership.
About 100 experts from the public and private sectors as well as the academia locally and internationally are expected at the annual conference.
