Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adam Ahmed Rufai has been declared winner of the Patigi constituency House of Assembly by-election in Kwara State.
The INEC returning officer, Dr. Abdulazeez Ishola Musbau of the University of Ilorin, said Rufai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) having scored the highest votes of 10,354 emerged winner in the election.
His major contender, Mohammed Salihu Yahaya, candidate of the PDP got 4,623 votes.
Six political parties, AAC, ADC, APC, APM, NNPP and PDP, took part in the House of Assembly by-election.
The APC candidate would replace his late brother, Saidu Ahmed Rufai, who died in December last year in Kwara State House of Assembly.
The commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state, Mrs. Aisha Ahman Pategi, who is from the constituency said the victory was a sign that APC was still much on ground in Patigi.
