The North West zonal office of Lamido for President Campaign Organisation has condemned Tuesday’s demolition of the factional secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.
Zonal Coordinator of the organisation, Hon. Sani Liti, while briefing newsmen in Kaduna, said the demolition was an indication that the path to 2019 was laden with land mines.
The factional office of the APC was demolished in the early hours of Tuesday, but a state government agency explained that it took the action based on some violations of the laws governing ownership of property in Kaduna.
Liti, who was a majority leader in the Katsina State House of Assembly, said it was worrisome the extent the APC and some of its leaders could go in the bid to silence voices of dissent.
He said such acts did not indicate respect for democracy and the rule of law.
“The destruction of Senator Hunkuyi’s office is an indication that the path to 2019 could be dangerous, if not impossible.
“The fact that the governor always acts outside what the people demand of him as a governor is a signal to what we should expect come 2019; the levels of breaches witnessed have never been experienced in the history of Kaduna State,” he said.
The Lamido coordinator said since the APC had failed Nigerians, it was clearer that the citizens had made a mistake by voting them into power.
“I fear if these people can really organise the 2019 elections,” he stated. “It is time for all Nigerians to be vigilant so as to safeguard democracy and the rule of law,” he added.
