Lagos House sets up committee to review Land Use Charge

The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday set up a committee to review the Land Use Act which was recently passed by the assembly and has been the basis of recent uproar in the state.

Speaker of the House, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa disclosed this during  plenary.

Daily Trust reports that the implementation of the Land Use Charge by the state government has been greeted with widespread opposition and criticism across the state.

Following the protests, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode approved a downward review of the Land Use Charge by 50 per cent.

In a bid to give effect to the recently reduction, the house set up the review committee chaired by Hon. Bayo Oshinowo with other members including Hon. Oluyinka Ogundimu, Jude Idumago, Funmi Tejuosho, Tunde Buraimoh, Hakeem Shogunle

Obasa said the house been inundated with petitions and protest letters against the land use charge, charging the committee to report back to the house in two weeks.

The Speaker noted that the controversy trailing the Land Use Charge would have been addressed during the public hearing.
