The Chairman of the Kwara state Golf Association, Mallam Ismail Faruq has promised to make the Junior Golf Youth Clinic an annual event.
Mr Faruq stated this in Ilorin at the closing ceremony of the Maiden edition of the Junior Golf clinic for pupils between ages of nine and 10.
He applauded Ilorin Golf Club for providing its facilities for the programme and also lauded the parents for releasing their children to participate in the Clinic.
In his remark, the Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem implored parents to always allow their children and wards to take part in sporting activities to enhance their mental and physical alertness.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of youth and Sports development, Alhaji Shuaib Akanbi expressed the gratitude of the State Government to the association for organising a catch them young clinic, saying the game of golf is not just a game but a career.
During the chipping and putting event of the clinic, the trio of Telilah Aliu, Ayodami Muyiwa and Diekola Sadiku emerged first, second and third respectively in the boys category while Adekoya Oluwadara, Ilufoye Darasimi and Delight Opoola won the female set.
Tehila Aliu also came top in chipping, followed by Lade Odunaya and Diekola Sadiku to win medals.
Delight Opoola joined the duo of Ilufoye Darasimi and Adekoya Oluwadara to clinch medals in the girls set.
