Kwankwaso didn’t back any candidate for Kano Speaker – APC

Our correspondent had on Monday reported that Alhaji Kabiru Alhassan Rurum who emerged speaker was sponsored by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje while Abdullahi Yusuf Falgore who lost the election was sponsored by Kwankwaso.
Reacting to the report, the Kano State chairman of APC, Alhaji Haruna Doguwa said the former governor was not the sponsor of Falgore and that there was no election as earlier reported.
“I chaired the meeting where the candidates were adopted. One of the lawmakers nominated Alhaji Kabiru Alhassan Rurum as the speaker and he was unanimously adopted by the lawmakers. There was no election at all.
“Let be frank to you, Kwankwaso has no candidate for any position in Kano House of Assembly. You people should always verify your fact in order to avoid misinforming the general public. The person that emerges as the speaker has the support of all and not as your reporter portrayed in his report,” he said in a phone interview.
Meanwhile, the 8th House of Assembly was yesterday inaugurated with hundreds of the supporters of the lawmakers who are mainly APC members in attendance.
