No fewer than 70 kids have successfully graduated from a Taekwondo training session organised by the Korean Cultural Centre in Nigeria (KCCN).

Aisha Jelilova, Chisea Chisom and Ikechukwu Chisea emerged as best graduating students in the Under 8 beginners, Under 8 coloured belt and Over 8 coloured belt categories respectively.

Students who stood out in different aspect of the sport were also given commendation letters.

According to the head coach of the centre, Abdulmalik Mohammed, only two students failed and thereby, retained their former belt.

He said most of the students performed well, showing improvements in every aspect of the sport.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony held inside KCCN theatre hall in Abuja, the Director of the centre Lee Jin-Su, who congratulated the graduating students, said the aim of the centre was to develop the sport in Nigeria and make the country a leading Taekwondo nation.

He said the programme, which started in 2010, had produced many athletes who are presently doing well in the sport.

While noting that the students still had a long way to go, Jin-Su enjoined them to continue developing their skills.

The Director expressed optimism that the kids will make the dreams of KCCN to produce world champions from Nigeria, become reality.
