Stakeholders of the PDP in Kogi State, yesterday, met with the national leadership of the party to reconcile the lingering crisis in Kogi East and map out strategies that will help them reclaim power in the November governorship election in the state.
Addressing newsmen at the end of the meeting, which lasted for about two hours at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, one of the stakeholders in the state, Halima Alfa, said they resolved to raise a reconciliation committee to be headed by the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.
She explained that the committee would be saddled with the responsibility of reconciling the aggrieved party stalwarts in the state to prepare grounds for victory at the poll.
She said the party also took a holistic review of the last election in the state in terms of logistics, thuggery, betrayal, the current leadership of the party, and especially the tenure of the state executive.
“All these were reviewed and we gave ourselves a task that a committee should be set up so that we can address each issue. In terms of our leadership crisis, especially as regards to Kogi East, the leadership crisis affected our election in Kogi East such that we lost both the National Assembly and the state House of Assembly election.
“The governorship election as it is today is a do or die thing for the PDP and for the people of Kogi State,” she said.
In a communique at the end of the meeting, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan said the stakeholders resolved to forego all personal ambitions and work together for the interest of the party and the Kogi people ahead of the election.
