The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally presented the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its candidate for the November 16 governorship election in the state.
Bello emerged the governorship flag bearer of the APC at the party’s primary held in Lokoja on August 29 after polling 2,090 votes to defeat its closest rival, Babatunde Irukera who polled 109 votes.
The party also submitted the name of Bello’s Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja, as his running mate in the forthcoming election.
A statement issued, yesterday, by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Bello, Onogwu Muhammed, said the party submitted the names contained in Form CF. 001 to INEC on Monday in line with the commission’s guidelines.
“The form was signed by the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the APC’s acting scribe, Chief Victor Giadom.
“The INEC also acknowledged that Governor Yahaya Bello has nominated his current Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja as his running mate,” Onogwu said.
He said the nomination of Onoja as Bello’s running mate was done after due consultations with stakeholders.
