The 78-year-old proprietor of the sealed Qur’anic and Rehabilitation Center in Daura, Mallam Bello Abdullahi, is currently being interrogated at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Katsina State Police Command, Daily Trust reports.
Abdullahi, who was arrested yesterday in Daura, was moved to the command headquarters in Katsina after his school was shut down by the police for allegedly subjecting students to various inhuman and degrading treatments.
The proprietor, who was expected to be unveiled for questioning by newsmen yesterday, was kept back due to administrative bureaucracy within the command.
However, sources within the command told our reporter that the proprietor was cooperating with the investigators, while the profiling of the victims, who would soon be handed over to their respective parents, was ongoing.
Already, the police have launched a manhunt for the proprietor’s son, Umar Bello and some teachers who have been accused of sexually molesting the students of the school.
It would be recalled that on Monday, the state commissioner of police, Sanusi Buba, while leading newsmen to the premises of the school, said 67 persons aged between seven and 40 years were found shackled with chains.
Buba said they had been evacuated to the hospital for treatment, while efforts were atill ongoing to reunite them with their respective families.
