The President of Nigeria Interventional Radiologists, Professor Ahmed Ahijo, yesterday said Kano will be the first state in the North to initiate postgraduate training in radiology.
The president said this when he led a team of members of West African College of Surgeons and the National Postgraduate Medical College on an inspection visit to the Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital to ascertain the level of preparedness FOR the take-off of training of postgraduate doctors in the field of radiology.
He said the team was satisfied with the level of preparedness in terms of facilities provided and also the infrastructure put in place at the hospital for the take-off of the programme.
He added that the few areas noted for improvement if corrected in good time would place the state in good stead for accreditation soon.
Similarly, in a statement issued after the inspection by the state hospital management board and signed by the board’s Public Relations Officer Malama Bintu Nuhu Yakasai, the hospital said its Chief Medical Director, Dr. Usman Tijjani Aliyu had made commitment in ensuring that all the lapses pointed out would be corrected in good time for the accreditation to take place.
