Kano State Censor Board (KSCB) has debunked the rumor making round that it had ordered the Kano state chapter of Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) to rescind the banning of famous Kannywood actress Rahama Sadau.
It recalled that on October 3rd, 2016, Rahama was expelled from Kannywood by Kano state chapter of Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) for featuring in a romantic musical video titled ‘I Love U’ by a Jos-born singer, Classiq in which she was captured in series of hugging and cuddling the singer.
The actress had last Tuesday in a radio Hausa programme, “Ku Karkade Kunnuwan Ku” on a popular FM radio station in Kano, Radio Rahama, apologized to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state and the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, over her indecent appearance in a music video which earned her a ban from Kannywood movie industry, last year.
Following the apology by the actress and after the picture of Rahama and Ali Nuhu together with Director General of Kano State Censor Board (KSCB), Isma’il Na’Abba Afakallah went viral, the rumour started making round that the board has ordered MOPPAN to rescind the ban.
The Director General of the board, Isma’il Na’Abba Afakallah who spoke with Daily Trust on phone denies the allegation.
“What actually transpired was, Rahama accompanied by Ali Nuhu and director Yaseen Auwal came to my office, and during our conversation I learned that she was remorseful, she said she made mistakes and she wouldn’t do it again. She went to the extent of granting interview with one radio station to apologize,” he said.
“I assure you our board would support the action to be taken by MOPPAN on Rahama, but we didn’t order anybody to rescind the ban, what I know is Rahama also copied us the letter of her apology she has written to MOPPAN, and we are still waiting for MOPPAN to decide. We are not going to influence anybody on Rahama Sadau’s saga.” He concluded.
