Kannywood: Board lifts ban on Rahama Sadau

Kano state censorship board said it has forgiven Rahama Sadau over her indecent appearance in a musical video that led to her expulsion from Kannywood by the Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) in 0ctober 2016.

Executive Director of the board, Alhaji Isma’ila Na’abba Afakalla said it resolved to forgive the actress in view of her unreserved apology to the people of Kano state whose sensibilities she had abused by featuring in an amorous video.

He stressed that the board is willing to start attending to the films produced by the ace actress.

‘’In our capacity as censorship board we have forgiven her unconditionally because to err is human; considering the apology she made on air to the people of Kano state whose sensibilities she abused, even now we are ready to entertain her films’’ he said.

He however noted that ‘’the decision of the board may vary with that of MOPPAN which may decide which punishment she deserves, if they deem it fit they may impose fine on her, if they like they can forgive her but for us we have forgiven her’’ he added.

Rahama Sadau apologised to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II in October last year in a radio Hausa programme, “Ku Karkade Kunnuwan Ku” on a popular FM radio station in Kano, Rahama Radio.

She vowed never to repeat the mistake again and urged her fans and colleagues in the industry to forgive her of her wrong doings.

‘’If anything goes wrong not only with Rahama Sadau but any artiste, what we need is support and encouragement, call us and draw our attention to where we go wrong for us to amend and take corrections not for you to instigate gossips about us. I am appealing for unconditional pardon from everybody about this thing that happened God’s willing it will never repeat itself again’’ Rahama pleaded.

It could be recalled that Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) took the decision to expel the actress on October 2nd, 2016 following what was termed indecent appearance in a Hausa musical video alongside Jos based musician, ClassiQ.
