The Health Reform Foundation of Nigeria (HERFON) has urged Kaduna State government to make provision for take-off grant of the Contributory Health Management Authority in the 2019 budget of the state.
The state chairman of the Foundation, Malam Lawal Abubakar, said this during an advocacy visit to the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Paul M. Dogo.
He appreciated the efforts of the State House of Assembly and the state Governor Nasir El-Rufai for the passage and signing the law which established the Kaduna State Contributory Management Authority.
This he said will enable the state to access the federal government consolidated revenue fund through the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), to be used for the provision of basic minimum package of health services to citizens.
The Foundation therefore urged the state government to reflect the not less than one percent consolidated revenue in the 2019 budget of the state, as enshrined in section 17 (2) (b) of the law that established the Authority
Responding, Dr. Dogo, represented by his permanent secretary, Shehu U. Muhammad, said the governor has directed that the constitution of the management board for the contributory health management authority be put in place; adding that massive sensitization on the contributory health scheme has begun.
