Jumia Nigeria gets new CEO

As part of the drive for excellence along the lines of the next growth phase, e-commerce platform, Jumia Group, has appointed Massimiliano Spalazzi as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Jumia Nigeria.

The former CEO, Juliet Anammah, has been elevated to the position of Chairwoman, Jumia Nigeria, and Head of Institutional Affairs, Jumia Group. Her responsibilities will include visiting countries, meeting governments and institutions, among others, and ensuring that Jumia has the desired impact.

The new CEO, Spalazzi, who is also the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Marketplace, during an interaction with newsmen in Lagos, said that this year’s operations would be anchored on four major pillars including: giving consumers access to purchase online, enabling vendors to grow their businesses, connecting third party partners, and empowering the Company’s team.

“We will keep fostering the employment ecosystem, offer trainings and career growth opportunities,” he said, while he promised value added services to vendors this year as well as drive the growth of e-commerce in Nigeria and Africa at large.

“I am happy to assume this role, and we are committed to growing the e-commerce business in Africa. By this, we are inventing and diversifying our businesses to better cater for our customers. At Jumia, we are the custodian of our customers’ happiness,” he said.
