Jingir, who made the appeal yesterday in Jos at the 22nd JIBWIS annual national seminar, said the innovations and demonstration of patriotism by Jega qualifies him for an extension of tenure to consolidate the successes of the country’s electoral body.
Jingir said, “Nigerians have witnessed the innovations in our electoral system which restored hope and confidence that our votes now count in elections. The electorate is the king in our democracy courtesy of card reader and permanent voters card introduced by Jega’s INEC.
He said Professor Jega has proved to the world that he is worth the integrity that was entrusted to him to be appointed for the job. “With President Buhari and the likes of Jega, we believe that more and more people of proven integrity will be unveiled and the hope for a greater Nigeria would be achieved.”
He said, “On behalf of the entire members of JIBWIS nationwide and all well meaning Nigerians, we are appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to renew the tenure of Professor Jega as INEC chairman for the development of our country’s electoral system.”
