This was disclosed to newsmen by the JISIEC chairman, Alhaji Muhammed Sani Ahmed at the end of their meeting with the leadership of political parties in the state.
He said in view of the date for the LG election, political campaign will now commence from 10th of October to 17th January 2014, while sale of nomination form would be from 21st – 4th November,2013, and party primaries would hold from 3rd – 12th November 2013 while the submission of names of candidate by political parties will be on 6th of December,2013.
The Chairman told journalists that in order to ensure a free and fair election in the forthcoming council polls, the Commission has put a number reforms in place like translation of the state electoral laws into Hausa language, improved voter education and enlightenment programme, establishment of inter-agency consultative committee on election and security and the establishment of social media avenue to enhance the interaction of the Commission and the public.
Alhaji Ahmed also said the Commission has partnered International donor agencies to train staff of the Commission on various aspect of election adding that their newly recruited staff are also under going training to enhance their efficiency in the 2014 election.
