A housewife, Ruth Musa, has allegedly poured hot water on her husband, Musa Emmanuel, during a misunderstanding on who should help one of their sons search for his missing pair of school socks.
The incident, which happened in Rubochi, Kuje Area Council on Monday, left the husband with burns.
Emmanuel, who spoke to City News from his hospital bed at Rubochi General Hospital, on Tuesday, said an argument broke out between them after one of his sons misplaced his school socks while preparing to leave for school in the morning.
He said after bathing and preparing two of his children for school, one of them started crying that he could not find one of his pair of socks, adding that his wife then asked the boy to search for it.
“I only asked her why can’t she help him find it since I have bathed them. Then she started insulting me and I insulted her too
“As we were exchanging words, before I realised what was happening, she carried the remaining hot water on the fire and poured it on me,” he said.
The 42-year-old victim, who is a casual staff with the Federal Government College (FGC) in the area, said he fell down from the pain, adding that neighbours had to rush him to the hospital.
Musa hails from Jaba in Kaduna State and has two children aged five and three.
When contacted, the Rubochi Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP John Kareem, confirmed the incident, saying the woman has been arrested and detained as investigation is ongoing.
“Actually, we have been able to arrest the woman and detained her, while investigations are still ongoing,” he said.
City News also gathered that a similar incident happened on Saturday at Toto town, near Abaji, when a housewife, simply identified as Fatima, allegedly attacked her husband’s second wife with hot water. The woman is still on the run.
