Plans have been concluded to receive the deputy governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Ahmed Mahmud Gumel into the fold of the All Progress Congress (APC) in his hometown of Gumel today. He is expected to officially receive his membership card of the APC after ditching the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Sule Lamido is the governor of Jigawa state. The PDP now faces an uphill task in the Saturday gubernatorial election after the president elect Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the APC won in the state last week. The Jigawa state APC Chairman, Alhaji Ado Sani Kiri told Daily Trust that they will receive the Jigawa deputy governor along with thousands of his supporters today and later proceed to Kazaure, Hadeijia and Ringim to receive other prominent decampees from the PDP. He said before now, they have received over 5000 PDP members from the various senatorial zones who have silently brought their PDP cards and receive APC membership from them. Mahmood who has been a loyal deputy to Lamido was not only denied the governorship ticket but none of his candidate got any elective position from State House of Assembly to the National Assembly.
