The convener of the Imo APC Restoration Coalition, Dr. Theodore Ekechi, has explained why neither Imo Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere, nor any member of the coalition emerged as the running mate to the party’s governorship candidate, Hope Uzodinma.
Ekechi said choosing someone from the coalition as deputy governor was not what they fought for, and that it would be morally wrong for any member of the coalition to be chosen as Uzodinma’s deputy. Uzodinma had chosen the pioneer vice chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Prof. Placid Njoku, who hails from Ikeduru.
Ekechi, who spoke to our correspondent, yesterday, said the coalition had two clear mandates when they decided to fight the establishment in Imo.
He said the first was to prevent Governor Rochas Okorocha from imposing Ugwumba Uche Nwosu as the party’s governorship candidate and second, to have a candidate from Owerri zone as the party’s flag bearer in the 2019 election.
