I will not contest Kaduna governorship, Baba-Ahmed says

Baba-Ahmed who confirmed he was under pressure by ‘well-meaning’ individuals across the country to run as governor said he will not run despite the pressure.
“I have not told anybody that I will contest for governorship but I have been approached by many people, most of them well meaning. I appreciate it and I have been honest to tell them that running for the office of governor is not among my current priorities. I am in politics and expect that those who think I am worthy to contest for governor should know that reluctant candidates do not make good leaders,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed also urged the leadership of the party in the state to strive to accommodate the views of all the members to avoid actions capable of frustrating party supporters.
He said recent efforts by the leaders of the party to sack officials at the ward and local government will only breed suspicion and distrust. “I heard that some ward leaders have received letters to the effect that they will be removed and I know this is causing massive disenchantment. I hope that whoever is doing that recognizes the fact that he is causing serious problem in the party. I hope the national headquarters will get involved in what is going on in Kaduna State because clearly, something is wrong. People who were elected were asked to step aside.”
He said the recent nomination of Nasir el-Rufa’i as a member representing the state on the APC Board of Trustees (BOT) was a source of concern because there were no consultations.
