I”m still in APC -Adamawa Ex-governor

A former Acting governor of Adamawa State, James Barka, has debunked a rumour making the rounds that he has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The member of the Presidential Committee on the Northeast Initiative (PCNI), who addressed a press conference in Abuja yesterday, said he has no reason to jump ship.

“It is an era of fake news but I am surprised mainstream media joined the online platforms to report that I have decamped to PDP,” Ambassador Barka said.

“I am a bona fide member of the APC and I am not contemplating leaving. Actually, the PDP in my state came on a courtesy visit, pleading with me to return to the party but I told them I was going to think about it.

“My response was only a political statement because there is no reason for me to leave the APC. There was never a point when I said I was leaving for the PDP. I have sent messages to my followers to tell them to ignore the fake news as I am still in APC.

“I cannot return to a party that showed me so much impunity in 2014, never.” While noting that his present position as a member of the PCNI was not the reason he was remaining in APC, Amb. Barka said he resigned as an ambassador in 2014 when he left the PDP.
