Lawal Abdulahi of Wuse 2, Abuja, with two wives, was convicted for attempting to commit an offence, which contradicts Section 95 of the Penal code.
Police Prosecutor, Azik Kaura, told the court that one Maumed Abdulazeez, on July 22, reported at Kubwa Police Station that the accused, on same day, criminally dipped his hand into his car parked at Dutse market, while waiting for his wife, who went to buy some foodstuffs in the market.
He said the accused attempted to steal his dry-cleaned clothes before he was caught in the act.
When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded guilty, and begged the court to tamper justice with mercy, saying he had two wives and four children.
Magistrate, Rosemary Kanyip sentenced him to two weeks imprisonment with an option of N200 fine and warned him to desist from such act.
