Four persons have been killed by yet to be identified hunters in what appears to be jungle justice in Doguwa LGA of Kano State after they were accused of involvement in kidnapping.

Confirming the killing of three of the deceased yesterday, police spokesman, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, said the deceased were killed on Thursday, January 4, 2018.

Majia said the deceased were Basiru Musa, 25, Dahiru Musa, 20 of Makauta village and Muhammad Kiruwa of Dogon-Ruwa village in same local government.

He said the unknown hunters crossed into Doguwa from Lere LGA of Kaduna State, hunting for kidnappers.

Also, a resident of Sabon-Garin Doguwa, who craved for anonymity, told our reporter that the rampaging hunters also killed one Malam Alhassan Mai Hali for allegedly aiding kidnappers.

Late Mai Hali was accused of facilitating the bail of suspected kidnappers, the resident said, adding that the deceased left behind 14 children and three wives.

He added that the hunters had visited residences of some people accused of facilitating activities of kidnappers, with intention to kill them.

“However, these people were so lucky to escape from this jungle justice. They abandoned their families and ran away before the arrival of the hunters. Some people in villages around Sabon-Garin Doguwa have deserted their homes for fear of being attacked by the hunters.”

Meanwhile, the PPRO, said the Kano Police Commissioner, Rabi’u Yusuf, has condemned the action of the hunters and ordered for their immediate arrest.

Majia said, “The combined team of hunters and vigilante group members must seek for permission from police before crossing into Kano State to conduct such operation and whoever they are accusing should be arrested and prosecuted before a court of law. It is inappropriate for the hunters to take laws into their hands.”

The police spokesman said patrol police had been intensified in Doguwa and villages around with a view to arresting the rampaging hunters.
