Hajj 2018: Stick to stipulated 32kg, 8kg luggage, pilgrims urged

Overseer of the Kaduna state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam Hussaini Ikara has urged pilgrims from the state to stick to the stipulated 32kg for main luggage and 8kg for hand luggage in order to avoid having their property being thrown away.

The overseer gave the advice shortly before the commencement of post Arafat meeting which was organized for all stakeholders by the National hajj commission of Nigeria in Makkah.
 
He however commended the pilgrims for displaying good habits and maturity since their arrival to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by abiding to the laid down rules and regulations of the Holy land.


He added that, so far, Kaduna state never lost a single pilgrim in this year’s hajj exercise and no case of any serious ailment.

Finally, he enjoined the pilgrims to continue to be good ambassadors of Kaduna state and Nigeria.

 

Similarly, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commended Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for treating all its pilgrims equally, irrespective of their status. 

The Chairman of NAHCON, Barrister Abdullahi Muktar Muhammad made the commendation during an interactive session,  when he visited the tent of Kaduna State pilgrims at Muna noting that the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and  leader of the contingent, Alhaji Balarabe Abbas Lawal was given the same mattress as any other pilgrim.

Barrister Muhammad also pointed out that the SSG and other top government officials like Engr Namadi Musa, the Director General of Interfaith Bureau, eat the same food as the pilgrims.

The NAHCON chairman also praised Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for rendering effective service to the guests of Allah saying, “The pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the quality of food given to them as well as the clean environment within and around their tents.”

The chairman however cautioned pilgrims against carrying excess luggage, warning that each pilgrim is entitled to only 40kg adding, “Your hand luggage is to weigh 8kg while the box must not exceed 32kg and defaulting pilgrims will not be allowed to board the airplane with excess luggage. ”
