Hajj 2018: First batch of Sokoto pilgrims return

The first batch of 259 Sokoto pilgrims has returned to the state from Saudi Arabia.

The pilgrims arrived the Sultan Abubakar International Airport Sokoto at about 12:30 pm on Monday.


They comprised pilgrims from Gada local government area of the state.

Meanwhile, the state government has set up a 16-man 2018 hajj reception committee.


Secretary to the Sokoto state government, Professor Bashir Garba disclosed this in a statement in Sokoto.

It said the committee has a former commissioner in the state, Alhaji Maishinku Katami as Chairman while the Director Agency for Female Education, Nasiru Bello Sokoto would serve as secretary.

Among the committee’s terms of reference is to organise a befitting reception for the state pilgrims returning from the holy land.
