Police Public Relations Officer Gbagesin Toyin confirmed that the attack was three but one of the attacks was repelled.
“Yes two police outpost stations were actually set ablaze in Potiskum and Nangere but that of Potiskum main station was repelled. Soldiers and police are currently responding the attacks,” he said.
Toyin said he could not ascertain the number of casualties.
Residents in Potiskum told Sunday Trust that the incident started at around 7:00 pm at Yidiski police outpost.
“The outpost station which is currently burning. It’s just opposite the beer parlour that was attacked by Boko Haram members where nine people were killed,” the source said.
A resident at Nengere said the gunmen raided the police post at about 7:30 pm. “We all scampered for safety but I can still see flames with thick smoke around the police station area,” he said.
He said soldiers were seeing taking cover around the attacked station as gun battle was going on between police and gunmen in the area.
It would be recalled that last Wednesday some gunmen attacked and burnt down a police station and military camp in Damagum town of Yobe State.
