Islam is peaceful language. Some people cannot commit atrocities and then you punish those who are completely innocent. So since the government has security operatives – both open and plain cloth – nothing should escape its eyes.
But unfortunately, there are small officers who are being bribed by mischief makers to sweep their atrocities under the carpet when in the actual sense these junior officers are the eyes of the government. If they fail to discharge their duties effectively, it is the government that will suffer. The government knows them and the people know them. Why can’t they be punished? It is wrong to say that preaching will be regulated.
There are times when doctors will dress in their surgery attire, can a sugarcane seller dress like them and ask to be allowed to perform surgery and be allowed? The fact is he will not be allowed. The sugarcane seller also cannot wear the turban and attend the meeting of traditional rulers and be allowed to participate no matter how well dressed he happens to be. But that is not the same with religion.
Whoever claims to be a religious leader is allowed to have a field day. So if he decides to do wrong, his offense should not affect good and reputable preachers, since government has security operatives and has the capacity to address such threats.
The government should investigate the matter and suspend erring preachers. It will not be good to generalize in a way that those that are innocent will be affected. God does not visit the sin of one person on another.
