Governors urged to give priority to citizens’ needs in 2019 budget

Governors in the six states in the South-west have been charged to accord priority to the needs of citizens in their 2019 budgets.

Leaders of coalitions of civil society groups in the six states in the region which include Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos and Ekiti gave the charge at a meeting organized by Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn, (PERL), a programme of the Department for International Development (DFID).

The Chairman of Coalition of All Civil Society Organizations in Ondo State, Mr Franklin Oloniju, urged governors in the region to put the people first by making sure that their 2019 budgets address the needs of the citizens substantially.

Other leaders of citizens’ groups that attended the meeting also appealed to the governors on the need to give priority to citizens’ needs.
