Organiser of the Gotv Boxing Night, Flykite Promotion has assured that the World Boxing Association (WBA) method for scoring fight will be adopted ahead of the 13th edition of the boxing event slated for December 26, 2017.
The organizer’s Managing Director, Jenkins Alumona, who stated this at a press conference stressed that the method will eliminate controversies that ensue among boxers and fans on who should get the prize of the best boxer after the fight. Alumona said the organizer has no say on who should be crowned the best boxer and urged the boxers for the forthcoming boxing event to focus on the winning titles not being the best boxer.
“I think it is just lack of focus because if you are focused on a big team and winning a world championship and have emerged best boxer once or twice, you should not quarrel if you don’t emerge best boxer all the time,” he said.
The best boxer at the show will go home with N2.5million, while the two runners-up will win N1million and N500,000 respectively.
Also speaking, the President of Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (BBB of C) Dr. Rafiu Ladipo warned boxers to shun protest after fight and any boxer found culpable will be sanctioned.
