The Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has asked Lagos residents to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) ahead of 2019 elections, saying the election will partly confirm the census of the state as the most populated in Nigeria.
The Governor made the call at the 11th quarterly town hall meeting held in Apapa on Tuesday.
According to the Governor, the 2019 election is not just about political party but one that must put finality on the raging debate on which state has the largest population in Nigeria.
"Collection of PVCs is the duty of everybody. Before census, there is going to be a census. So this is not about the issue of APC or any party. We must all collect our PVCs to put a finality to the state with the largest population. We must use our PVCs in 2019 to prove that the real population is in Lagos," the Governor said.
He reminded his audience that if they refuse to participate in the election, they will be short-changing the state because the resources are distributed based on population figures.#
