Foundation donates hospital, treats 5000 in FCT communities

A humanitarian organisation, Women Arise Foundation, has donated a hospital and offered free medicare to two communities in the suburbs of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The foundation, last week, completed and handed over a 10-bed medical centre in Dafara, Kuje Area Council and provided gift items such as bags of rice and plastic buckets among others.


Its medical coordinator, Dr Edache Oko Adigwu Ayitega, said the facility would provide subsidised healthcare for the community but would be free of charge at the initial period.

He said it will provide jobs for natives of the community.


Also, the foundation provided free medicare for people in Kobi village near Guzape District with treatment for children with cases of malaria, diarhoea and upper respiratory tract infections.

Also, many children were dewormed while yellow fever vaccines were administered to residents in conjunction with the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

The national convener of the foundation, Siju Iluyomade, said the initiative was geared to bridge the healthcare gap in the communities.

The coordinator of Arise Women Foundation in the FCT, Rose Eshiet, said the programmes in the two communities were part of activities marking the 10th-year anniversary of the organisation, which began with a women’s conference in Lagos.
