Former Majority Leader of Borno State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulrahman Abdulkarim, has declared his intention to run for next All Progressive Congress (APC) Party Chairmanship in the state.
Hon. Abdulrahman, who disclosed this in a chat with Daily Trust in Maiduguri yesterday, said that his pedigrees will put him ahead of other candidates.
"I was former majority Leader Borno state House of Assembly for eight years between 1999 to 2007 and currently Special Adviser to the Borno state Governor, Hon Hashim Shettima. I have sat down and heeded to all the stakeholders asking me to vying for office of the state Chairman.
"People have confident in me, I am vying for office of the state Chairman of our great party; I have the experience and capability to pilot the affairs of the state party. So I believed I have what it takes to become party chairman in the state, I think I am more qualified," he declared.
Hon. Abdulrahman praised the efforts of President Muhammad Buhari and Hon. Kashim Shettima for allowed internal democracy in the party.
"As a citizen and bonafide All Progressive Congress member, I have the right to be voted and voted for.
"APC is a formidable party in Borno and Nigeria at large; there is no division among its member. Hon Kashim Shettima has provided level playing ground for all party men and women in the state." Hon Abdulrahman said.
He noted that as grassroots politician who has served in different capacity such as councillor, Youths Leader in Ngala Council, elected Member Borno State House of Assembly, Ngala State Constituency 1999 – 2007,Member of the Governing Council Federal Polytechnic Bali and as caretaker chairman of Ngala local government between August 2014 -July 2017.
He is currently a Special Adviser to the Governor and also the Chairman, Transition Committee on Resettlement & Reconstruction of Ngala local government area from July, 2017 till date.
