The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) generated N5.592 billion revenue for this year’s tax collection season in Jigawa State

The state Monitor of FIRS, Malam Saidu Ibrahim Gabari, made this known to Daily Trust on Monday in Dutse, saying the service in the state did not only surpass its target of N5.576 billion but emerged as the highest at the state level in the country.

Gabari noted that despite the low commercial activities in the state, the service was able to surpass its target with N16 million, saying the feat wouldn’t have been achieved without the cooperation of both the state and local governments.

He said compliance for tax remittance on government contracts at both state and local government levels aided in the huge tax collection, adding that despite the level of cooperation enjoyed by the service in the state, there was no time it was so hitch free tax collection sessions as during the present administration, hence the success that placed the state ahead of even the mega states in the country.

“The Federal Inland Revenue Service, Jigawa, has surpasses its 2019 tax collection target. The tax collection target for 2019 was N5,576,744, 322.00 but the office collected N5,592,783,194.95 as at December 5, 2019.

“The Jigawa State Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, is one of the most tax compliant governor in the country. The governor ensures all taxes accruable to the service on any contract awarded are not only paid but also as at when due,” Gabari stated.
