Firm plans 1000 jobs for Bayelsans, promises $5m investment

A firm, Safewater Energy and Environmental Restoration (SWEERGLOBAL), has disclosed plans to create 1000 jobs in Bayelsa State.
This was made known by the founder and Chief Executive Officer of SWEERGLOBAL, Dr Thaddaeus Thompson, while speaking on efforts to attract direct foreign investment to the Niger Delta region and the Nigerian economy.
Thompson said the region needs intervention by the private sector and noted government’s role to settle issues in the region. He said government needs to be supported by the private sector, but that the enabling environment should be provided in terms of security and basic infrastructures as some investors have indicated interest in the region for business.
He said: “The Niger Delta region is heavily endowed with various minerals by nature. It has all it takes to attract big businesses across the world, not just only oil and gas, which we have to look away from and tap these endowments.
“The enabling environment is needed to convince the private sector to come in to invest, build human capacity, and create wealth for the people including development of the communities.
“SWEERGLOBAL will address a series of problems affecting Bayelsa State and the entire Niger Delta region including agriculture, sanitation, environmental restoration, eliminating plastic bottles pollution, and combating Malaria and Typhoid fever in the region.
“The projects will also create 1000 jobs in the state during the first year of operation,”he said.
