Firm, MAFITA train 32 persons on garment production in Kaduna

Thirty two persons are undergoing two months training on garment production and computer literacy at El-Jahab Mubarak Nigeria Ltd with support from MAFITA, a DFID funded initiative in Kaduna state.

El-Jahab is the only approved indigenous producer of specialised accoutrements, uniforms, badges and embroidery so far. The trainees are students of the Community Skills Development Centre formally called Basic Apprenticeship Training Centre (BATC) Mando in the state.

Speaking to our correspondent yesterday, the Managing Director of the company, Alhaji Ja’afaru Abdulkadir, said the company decided to train the youths with a view to enhancing their skills so that they could contribute their quota to the development of their society and the country at large.

He said, “Among the trainees we have cripples and dwarfs who have decided that instead of begging on the streets they better learn a trade that would sustain them and their families. The country needs to encourage such people and that is why we are partnering with MAFITA to train them in our factory.”

The training followed the need to have skilled manpower and work place experience before they can be awarded with a certificate at level 2 of the National Skills Qualification Framework.

He noted that it was hoped after the award of their certificates they would become useful members of the society who would contribute to economic growth and development.
