Traders at the popular Jos Katako market in Plateau State are counting their losses after over 50 shops were lost to a midnight inferno on Friday.
Witnesses attributed the incident to an electrical fault.
The chairman of the Market Association for Timber B, Yusuf Aliyu, said property worth over N50 million had been lost.

Aliyu said 36 shops had been burnt completely and 14 others partly damaged.
He said the market authority had approached the Jos Electricity Distribution Company to be switching off the power supply to the market at night completely.
He urged the state government to help with the funding and implementation of the power switch facility.
