A book, ‘Practical Steps to Forensic Audit and Fraud Investigation’, has been launched in Abuja.
According to the author, president of Association of Forensic and Investigation Auditors (AFIA) in Nigeria, Dr. Victoria Enape, the book is expected to develop and increase the standard of advance auditing system that engender integrity, objectivity and trust in accounting and financial reporting process and inspire public confidence in the Nigerian financial and economic system.
According to the AFIA president, the book is also expected to contribute to the anti-fraud and investigation processes and knowledge on the use of science and technology, sophisticated mechanisms to the extent that it can prevent, sniff out fraud in all sectors and stand judicial combat to the point of securing conviction anytime and anywhere.
Presenting the keynote address, the head of Forensic and Crime Investigation Laboratory Unit EFCC, Benedict Agweye, called on the government to build critical mass of experts in forensic audit and investigation.
Agweye said crime and criminality have nothing to do with growth of the economy but stressed the need to spend more money on capacity building urgently on forensic to meet up with the present challenges.
